Anwer Khan Modern Medical College is a private medical Hospital and College in Bangladesh. It was established in 2008 by a group of dedicated founder members who were imbued with the ideals of providing quality medical education, research and services to people of this country at a reasonable cost. The college has emerged as one of the most preferred colleges for International students who wish to study MBBS in Bangladesh. The Anwer Khan Modern Medical College is located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka at the heart of the capital city of Bangladesh. The campus includes 8 modern buildings and an annexe two-storey space close by to the capital market. The first building, which is the college building houses the Principal office, college secretary and administration block. In addition, it has a lecture room which can accommodate around 200 students at a time. The lecture room has presentation facilities that help teachers to show the topics they are teaching to the students. The college building also houses a modern and resourceful library with more than 5000 updated medical textbooks and journals on different disciplines. The library also has internet facilities which help students with their research work. Apart from that, well-equipped computer rooms are also available for students and academic staff. Adjacent to the college building, blocks A, B, C, and D are used as hospitals with general beds and cabins. The presence of a hospital on the same campus allows students pursuing MBBS in Bangladesh at Anwer Khan Modern Medical College, to understand the real-time disease patterns and helps them get a practical idea of the working of a healthcare unit.
Anwer Khan Modern Medical College offers a 5-year MBBS Program. The courses offered by the college are approved by the BMDC and affiliated with the University of Dhaka. It is also permitted to operate by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh. The College is affiliated with the University of Dhaka since 2008. The cost of medical education is higher in developed and developing countries in comparison to Bangladesh. Ministry of health has sanctioned 50% of the total seats for admission of foreign students in private Medical College with the existing facilities; the college can admit foreign students who can avail quality medical education at an affordable price which automatically makes it one of the top choices when it comes to studying MBBS in Bangladesh. The clinical departments such as medicine, Surgery, Gynae & Obst, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Cardiology, Oncology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Anaesthesia etc. are situated in the hospital building. These include spacious wards, cabins and other required teaching facilities for providing hands-on experience to the students.
The curriculum is modelled as per the requirements of the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council and closely tallies with that of the National Medical Commission. Hostel and canteen facilities are also available for local students as well as international students pursuing MBBS in Bangladesh.
The college houses 5 fully air-conditioned classrooms big enough to accommodate around 200 students at a time. The classrooms have multimedia facilities with modern projectors in place. In addition, there are departmental tutorial rooms attached with the respective departments. The Anatomy Dissection Hall is fully air-conditioned. The laboratories of various departments like Pathology, Biochemistry, etc are well equipped with hi-tech and modern instruments.
Each class is provided with an overhead projector, slide projector and microphone system. In addition, multimedia projectors and computers are also available for teaching.
The College has a resourceful, fully air-conditioned library with Wi-Fi. The library has a collection of over 1565 books including expensive latest journals. It subscribes to 16 international medical journals on an annual basis.
The library of Anwer Khan Modern Medical College has accommodation for seating 100 students and 15 teachers at any given time. The Medical Education Unit (MEU) is attached to the library.
MEU has computers for use by students and faculty members. Fax, Internet and E-mail facilities are freely available and are widely used.
